MICHAEL LIN Family Residence
Private residence in Taipei for two Artists and their young family. They divide their time between Paris and Taipei but this is their home base. The owners were specific in their wish for "rooms" ie a plan that reflected a traditional European home with living room, dining room, study, kitchen etc rather than an open plan or multi functional arrangement such as is found in most modern apartments in Taiwan. This drove the whole project creating a hierarchy of spaces and a greater intimacy with their home for the owners. Floors were almost all finished in a fine marble terrazzo laid and polished on site. Likewise most walls are not painted but finished in a polished plaster that is smooth but warm to the touch. The only obvious colour is confined to the living room where a moss green was created and combined with a teak wood floor. The apartment was completed in 2013 and is maintained in its original state. It has become part of the family.
